You won the Kilbrannoch Distillery's Laird for a Night competition: a day of whisky, falconry and a seven-course dinner, then a night as the only guest in Kilbrannoch Castle.
You wake at 2:47 in the morning, badly in need of the toilet. The steward showed you the door on the way up to bed. It isn't there now. Downstairs, someone has laid the long table in the dining hall, and the great door is locked from the outside.
It's the anniversary of a wedding feast held here in 1702. The laird has never liked to see a guest leave early.
